Have you heard of an OPK? That is short for an ovulation prediction kit. When you take these test strips, they help you determine how close you are to ovulating. When the control line is dark and the test line is light or undetected it means negative. However, if you notice that each day, your test line is getting darker and almost the same as the control, this means you are getting closer to ovulating. When the test line is the same or as dark as the control, this means you have a positive ovulation test.
However, an individual can sometimes get more than one OPK that looks positive in the cycle. It can be common to have 2. Just because the test is positive does not mean you should just be trying to get pregnant during that time. You could ovulate 12-24 hours of getting that positive test. Not to mention sometimes we can mistake what we think is a positive test for a test that is almost positive. So you want to be intimate before the positive test, during the positive test and even a little bit after to increase your chances of catching your egg. What if you get more than 1-2 positive OPKs? Read more about that here in my blog post, (click link) Multiple Positive OPKs.
This study (blue words), Day Specific Probabilities of clinical pregnancy based on two studies with imperfect measures of ovulation claims ovulation tests are more accurate than BBT (basal body temperature).
