Introduction
I have spent many years relaxing my hair 3 times a year every 4 months, and finding that despite the beautiful sleek and straight, I seem to always need my ends trimmed, my hair remains to grow to about the same length, when I do apply heat to my hair at home it always looks dry and frizzy. And I occasionally run into the issue of not always finding a hair stylist who has experience or dealt with ethnic hair outside of using a doll’s head in cosmetology school whenever I live in less diverse areas. I also realized, when I have a hair stylist who does my hair well, I trust them to take care of it for me. As a mom, it is not a practical choice for me to go to the salon once a week or month, not just financially, but toting my little ones I take care of at home to a place where they cannot touch anything and must sit still for hours isn't really ideal. Right now my hair is relaxed and I am on a mission to get it back to a healthy state. And I have made the decision to go natural…again. Last time natural lasted 14 months, this time I am hoping to make it a permanent life style change. This is my natural hair journey and what I am learning along the way.
