I love nursing pillows (that is probably why I have too many)!
Nursing pillows allow me to nurse baby while having both hands to use when I am sitting in a nursing chair, regular chair, computer chair, the couch, floor, in bed, or out at a restaurant. Even when I am in the car (when not in motion), a busy airport or during a long flight on a plane. You have probably seen that there are so many different kinds. I liked having a few different nursing pillows, one that I could keep in my nursery, one for the car / for traveling. One of the most popular brands are Boppy's original nursing pillow and travel Boppy pillow. There are also other brands, My Best Friend and Dr. Brown's. But where do you store it? That question was not easily solved for me until after my second baby was over a year old. Two places that I found works really well for me.
- On your nursing chair
Having your nursing pillow stored on your nursing chair, that way its always there when you're ready to sit down and nurse your baby. This works well if you have a nursery. However, this may not always work well for a nursing chair that is in a living room / entertaining space where you may be moving the nursing pillow out of the way so guests can have a seat. Also guests may avoid sitting there, because they may think with the nursing pillow on it, that the nursing chair is reserved only for you.
- Hang your nursing pillows in your nursery closet
This was the brilliant idea that finally came to me after trying to put my nursing pillows in a basket on the floor next or around my nursing chair, on top of a closet shelf, under the bed or storage container in the garage. By far this has worked best for my growing collection of nursing pillows. I usually stop using my nursing pillows around the first year, but they are always within easy reach if i decide I want to occasionally use one when I am nursing a toddler and want to use two hands for whatever else I am doing.
