Test Lines Can Vary On Different HPT Brands

You maybe wondering if the pregnancy test brand you are using is giving you a real positive test, or some sort of evap or indented line. Chances are if you see a faint pink line within the appropriate time of the test, usually 1-10 mins, this maybe the start of something.

Often times if using test strips or you get a test with a faint barely visible line, you may be considering using a more sensitive test brand to see a larger / and or clear test line. Here is what I discovered when I was testing with different brands after I got my positive pregnancy test.

I realize depending on the brand you are using, some will have the test line lighter than the control or darker than the control. I remember testing one day and being a little bothered that my test line at around 5 weeks pregnant wasn't darker than the control yet.

However, don't freak out if you use a different brand and its lighter or darker test line, it could just be the brand and now sensitive it is and also how many days past ovulation you are.

My Examples:

When I found out I was pregnant for the third time, I was using the new First Response Easy Handle brand. My line was faint as you can see in this photo. But I was far along enough and had enough HCG in my body, that I got positive digital tests with the Clear Blue with Weeks at 11 & 12 days pass ovulation. Normally with a faint line, I would think I would have to wait a few days for it to darken in order to get a positive digital.

(Later when I had my dating ultrasound this revealed,
my first positive pregnancy test was at 11 days past ovulation,
not 13 days as my fertility friend chart said. So this photo below is really
11 and 12 days past ovulation.)

I am 20 days pass ovulation in the top test taken with the dollar store brand and according to my LMP (last menstrual period)  5 weeks and 1 day pregnant.  In the bottom test, the .88 cents Wal-Mart Cheapie, First Signal brand, I am 24 days pass ovulation and according to my LMP, 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant. If you look closely, the dollar store photo (top) the control line is to the right and is darker than my test line on the left. Now if you look at the bottom photo, the First Signal brand, my test line (all test lines to the left side) is darker than the control on the right side. This could be due to sensitivity of the test and / or how many days pass ovulation I am. So take away point is, if you are using different brands, as long as you get positive on them both that is what matters. Now if you are using the same brand and the line starts to fade from dark and goes to stark white, you should be concern and contact your health care provider about a possible chemical / miscarriage.

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test (Blue Dye)

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test  with Blue Dye (+ / - ) This is what a negative looks like: Side Note: Blue dyes are often said to more frequently give false positives than pink dye. Some online boards that will tweak (alter) a pregnancy test photo to help individuals identify if the test is a faint positive or indeed negative, often will not do blue dyes.

Frida Mom for Post Laparoscopy Care

My Frida Mom Basket for Post-Laparoscopy Care. Why I Love the Frida Mom Line (Even Beyond Motherhood) One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate is how versatile the Frida Mom line is—not just for new moms, but for anyone recovering from abdominal surgeries, such as laparoscopies for endometriosis. After surgery, comfort and gentle care are everything. That’s where the C-section recovery underwear comes in. Even if you haven’t had a baby, the design makes sense—when you have incisions on your abdomen, you need something soft, high-waisted, and non-restrictive. These disposable underwears are a lifesaver compared to standard disposable Depends. The big difference? You can build your own pad system . Start with the underwear. Add a menstrual pad. Layer on a witch hazel perineal liner, perineal cream, or both. Attach an optional heating pad for cramping. It’s completely customizable depending on what your body needs that day. I also want to mention the liners pack...

My Laparoscopy Recovery Essentials: What’s Actually Helping Me Heal

Disclaimer: Links to all the products I mentioned are included. I am not being paid to promote any of them and do not receive payments. Skin sensitivity may impact your experiences with these products. Recovering from my laparoscopy has been a journey, and honestly, some days are more uncomfortable than others. Over the past week, I’ve found a few products that have made a huge difference in how I feel—both physically and mentally. Here’s what’s been helping me get through it: 1. Body Wash That Feels Safe Before and after surgery, I wanted something gentle that still felt clean. I’ve been using Dove Antibacterial Body Wash , and it’s been perfect. It keeps the incision area clean without stinging or irritating my skin, which is such a relief.  2. Underwear That Actually Works I never thought I’d get excited about disposable underwear, but Frida Mom Disposable C-Section Underwear has been a game-changer. They’re soft, supportive, and don’t press on my stomach—exactly what ...
