Car Seats (Updated)

- My Picks -

2012
  • Graco Comfort Sport Convertible
I used this for my first baby after she outgrew the infant car seat. I actually bought it used to save money from a kid consignment type store. Not long after that, I saw a news report about car seats only being good for 6 years and how its one of those things you want to buy new. I am not recommending buying car seats used. There is so much information you do not know about the car seat to know it is safe to use, such as if the previous owner has been in any major or minor car accidents.  Has it been sitting in the heat every day in their car, never being covered? Extreme heat is said to damage plastic over time. I had the car seat for a total of 7 years, it is expired and can not be used anymore, but it held up. And once I had the chance to buy a new car seat, it was rarely used. It's not a risk you want to take if you're in an accident if it will keep your child safe.

July 2013 & March 2016

  • Graco Snug ride 22 Classic Connect Infant Car Seat in Little Hoot Print.
I used this one for my second and third baby. I had a similar Graco style one for my first baby. I bought mine from Amazon for $71 in July 2013 when I was expecting my second. To view how it looks, click hereIt seems this specific print is no longer available at Amazon or Wal-Mart.com.  However, they do sell other Graco Snugride Classic Connect brands. To view them, click here. This car seat works well with this double stroller: the Graco Duo Glider Classic Connect, to view that click here. I feel like Graco is a well-known brand, you can not really go wrong with it.

July 2014
My Evenflo Booster Carseat (Laguna)
  • Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster Car Seat in the Laguna print.
I use this with for my first child after my child outgrew an infant and a standard convertible car seat. I bought mine from Amazon in July 2014. To buy it, click here. This was found, by browsing booster car seats that had a 4 point harness. We've been using it for over 2 years. Since my child was 4, she could climb into the seat without help and buckle the top pieces.

  • Safety 1st Guide 65 Sport Convertible Car Seat in Guildsman print
I use this one for my second child after my child outgrew an infant car seat. This was a gift from my in-laws. It retails $85.00 on Wal-Mart.com, to see it click hereWe've been using it for over 2 years.

October 2016
We only had one infant car seat to switch between the two cars and our baby was quickly outgrowing it and my older two children's car seats expired in our second vehicle and we've been needing to replace them since car seats are only good for 6 years. One was manufactured in November 2009 (almost 7-year-old now)  and the other manufactured in August 2010 (6 years old now). We have been figuring out how to afford some new car seats since summer of this year, so we do not have to keep transferring car seats or share one car when doing outings with the kids. Our idea was to purchase new car seats for the main kid car, our van, then take the two-year-old car seats from the van and replace the expired car seats that were in our second  car with the two-year-old car seats.  That way every car has new, unexpired car seats-- that meant shopping!

  • Evenflo Triumph LX Convertible Car seat in Mosiac
The list price on September 29, 2016, was $149.99, basically $150 dollars and was on sale for $112.49 when I purchased it that day. I saved $37. 50. To see and / or buy it, click here. So I found an affordable convertible car seat for my third baby, who weighed almost 19 lbs at 6 months because the infant Graco car seat I have has a weight limit of 22 lbs. This new convertible, Evenflo Triumph Convertible goes up to 65 lbs, which means I will have to buy another seat once my third baby reaches the weight limit 46 lbs from now. However, if one purchases this when they have a new baby, this car seat will go as low as 5 lbs to the maximum weight of 65 lbs, and skip the infant car seat if they wish to. I watched a review video on Youtube, and my initial fear when watching was how much was coming out of the car seat and the getting use to comment for most of the gadgets.

  • Graco Nautilus' 65 3 in 1 Harness Booster
My initial issue with the harness booster type seats was how much thinner they were then the convertible car seats, and I felt hesitant from taking my young child (4 at the time) out of a bulkier style to a thinner one. But it has worked so far with the Evenflo, that to my own surprise, I choose another, except this one is considered a booster convertible. For my oldest turning 6, I choose the Graco Nautilus, a 3 in 1 harness booster that grows with your child from toddler to youth. It goes up to 100 lbs. We probably won't need to buy another car seat after she outgrows that, which makes me sad to think that could be her last car seat. The list price is $149.99 on Amazon, To buy this car seat, click here.

  • Safety 1st Continuum 3 in 1 Car Seat
Originally I was not planning on getting this car seat. It was a gift that I was able to pick out, and I choose it because it was more affordable than some of the other 3 in 1, All in One, 4 Ever Style Car seats I have seen. It was purchased on Amazon.com. It's list price is $149.99 and it was on sale for $117.39 in October 2016. To see this car seat, click here.

Frida Mom for Post Laparoscopy Care

My Frida Mom Basket for Post-Laparoscopy Care. Why I Love the Frida Mom Line (Even Beyond Motherhood) One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate is how versatile the Frida Mom line is—not just for new moms, but for anyone recovering from abdominal surgeries, such as laparoscopies for endometriosis. After surgery, comfort and gentle care are everything. That’s where the C-section recovery underwear comes in. Even if you haven’t had a baby, the design makes sense—when you have incisions on your abdomen, you need something soft, high-waisted, and non-restrictive. These disposable underwears are a lifesaver compared to standard disposable Depends. The big difference? You can build your own pad system . Start with the underwear. Add a menstrual pad. Layer on a witch hazel perineal liner, perineal cream, or both. Attach an optional heating pad for cramping. It’s completely customizable depending on what your body needs that day. I also want to mention the liners pack...

My Laparoscopy Recovery Essentials: What’s Actually Helping Me Heal

Disclaimer: Links to all the products I mentioned are included. I am not being paid to promote any of them and do not receive payments. Skin sensitivity may impact your experiences with these products. Recovering from my laparoscopy has been a journey, and honestly, some days are more uncomfortable than others. Over the past week, I’ve found a few products that have made a huge difference in how I feel—both physically and mentally. Here’s what’s been helping me get through it: 1. Body Wash That Feels Safe Before and after surgery, I wanted something gentle that still felt clean. I’ve been using Dove Antibacterial Body Wash , and it’s been perfect. It keeps the incision area clean without stinging or irritating my skin, which is such a relief.  2. Underwear That Actually Works I never thought I’d get excited about disposable underwear, but Frida Mom Disposable C-Section Underwear has been a game-changer. They’re soft, supportive, and don’t press on my stomach—exactly what ...
