Our first two children, in my opinion, were turned around too quickly. It was shortly after one. My husband felt they were ready as the law at the time said after 12 months. Our eldest was 16 months at the time of her turning and our second child, he was 14 months when he was turned.
Since then I’ve read/heard so many antidotes and car seat related information about children being safer the longer they rear face. I regret accepting the decisions to turn them around sooner as a solution to the crying in the car, a child not liking the car seat, being scrunched / uncomfortable rear facing…and so forth.
So, we’ve kept our third child still rear facing. He is 22 months, almost 2! I am not sure exactly when he will turn around, but for now, I will not accept or allow a child under 2 to be turned. I also think there is now a law that says rear facing until two as well.
