With my first, I didn't know anything about charting or when to take OPKs. I had no idea when to test for pregnancy or what brands to use. I remember taking one and it being negative. Probably, because I took it too early and didn't have an early detection test. Then took one the following week when my period was late (around 5 weeks pregnant) and got a positive test. As soon as I saw the 2 lines, I ran from the bathroom, banged on the door to the room DH was in. Then I shouted for DH to come look and quickly ran back to the bathroom where I showed him the test and said something along the lines of I wasn't sure and what do you think? I was so excited! I called my family right away and shared. We really didn't do anything special to announce it. We were pretty straight forward with telling people.
