Reminder
Keep in mind that after having my first child, I have been trying to conceive every subsequent child while breastfeeding thus far.
Spotting
After having my first child I spotted randomly for 3 consistent months before my postpartum menstrual came, however after having my 2nd my random spotting was more inconsistent. At 6.5 months and 3 days postpartum (March 2014), I started spotting for 2 days, followed by a few months of no spotting. A day shy of 10 months postpartum I began spotting for 2 days (July 2014).
OPKs
I began taking OPKs (ovulation prediction kits). I took an OPK test around 4 moths postpartum, it was stark white, meaning there was not even a line to compare it to the control. I had to squint to see if there was even a hint of where the line should be. However, at 6 - 6.5 months postpartum I had faint lines to compare to the control. While the OPKs were by no means positive, it allowed me to see that my fertility was in the process of returning and I was hoping at the time it was not going to take 17 months for it to return. After I started taking vitex, my OPKs started becoming close to positive and positive. I had multiple positive OPKs. To see those click here: > OPK Progression Before Postpartum.
Vitex
Around 8 months - 10.5 months postpartum, I began taking vitex. I noticed that I was starting to get fertile cervical fluid, which prompted me to start using OPKs again. After charting for 48 days pre-postpartum menstrual, my postpartum menstrual started 3 days shy of 11 months postpartum.
