My Newborn List: Diapering (Splurges)

Splurges # 1: Diaper Accessories
- These are not necessary items, but sometimes nice to have -
  • Oxo Tot Perfect Pull Wipe Dispenser (reusable wipe container)

I got this product during my third pregnancy.  This can be used for disposable wipes or cloth wipes. Since I cloth diaper It's a nice place to store the baby cloth wipes I will be using for diaper changes. I like to leave my wipes dry and then spray my cloth wipe solution on it when I am ready to use. It is said to fit 100 disposable wipes. It is going to fit fewer cloth wipes depending on the brand and how thin or thick the wipe is. I also fold my cloth wipes so they pop out like disposable wipes rather than rolling them.  In my experience, thick washcloths used as cloth wipes do not work for the pop-up pull. I like the oxo tot better than the Munchkin Wipes Warmer because you can get to the wipes without issue when the stack of wipes gets to the bottom and not have to shove your fingers in the tiny opening to get to the last wipe. This is not necessary because you could reuse a disposable wipes case or even use a plain basket for cloth wipes.

Oct 2016 Update: Would I get this again? Nope. I barely use it, although I like the idea of the product and try to use it from time to time to give it purpose.

  • J.J. Cole Diaper Caddy
This can be used whether you cloth diaper or use disposable diapers. I've had this J.J. Cole Diaper Caddy with my other children. The one  I have is in the color green (J.J. Coles Collection Green Stripe) and is a discontinued color that you can see here. There are also a couple of other discontinued colors, Cocoa Stripe and Blue Stripe. Now they have some new colors. This item is not necessary because you could use a plain basket to store your diaper essentials and products. Or a drawer if you are using a changing table with drawers or dresser. I myself have gone through phases where I've used it and not used it. That being said since we got a new house, my master is on a different level than my nursery that has a changing table. In the beginning weeks, I was changing baby mostly on my bed or the bassinet's changing pad in my living room. The caddy came in handy because it has a handle so I can carry it from room to room. It keeps the diapering items organized, so it's not making baby clutter in my living room or bedroom.

Oct 2016 Update: Would I get this again? Nope. I barely use it, although I like the idea of the product and have tried to use it from time to time to give it purpose until it finally broke apart and I tossed it 3 years later.

  • J.J. Cole Diaper Stacker
I purchased this December 4, 2011, for $26.75 from Amazon, after having my first child. This can be used whether you cloth diaper or use disposable diapers. I will say the cloth diapers are bulkier than disposables, even the trimmer all in ones. So you'll be able to fit more disposables than cloth diapers in it. I've had this J.J. Cole Diaper Stacker with my other children. The one I have is in the color brown (J.J. Coles Collection Cocoa Stripe) and is a discontinued color that you can see here. There are also a couple of other discontinued colors, Green Stripe and Blue Stripe. Now they have some new colors. This item is not necessary because you could use a plain basket to store your diaper essentials and products. And I myself have gone through phases where I've used it and not used it.

  • Reflection on my Splurges
All of my splurges on this list, I have said I would not buy again. Be careful with buying splurges, so you don't end up with a bunch of unnecessary and unusable baby items. Baby items take a lot of space, why take even more space with things you don't need? Better to put a baby item on the list, know what you're going to use it for, and still feel the same way every time you think about this item. If you're thinking this would be neat to try, but I don't know where it's going to go, you're better off without it.

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test (Blue Dye)

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test  with Blue Dye (+ / - ) This is what a negative looks like: Side Note: Blue dyes are often said to more frequently give false positives than pink dye. Some online boards that will tweak (alter) a pregnancy test photo to help individuals identify if the test is a faint positive or indeed negative, often will not do blue dyes.

Frida Mom for Post Laparoscopy Care

My Frida Mom Basket for Post-Laparoscopy Care. Why I Love the Frida Mom Line (Even Beyond Motherhood) One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate is how versatile the Frida Mom line is—not just for new moms, but for anyone recovering from abdominal surgeries, such as laparoscopies for endometriosis. After surgery, comfort and gentle care are everything. That’s where the C-section recovery underwear comes in. Even if you haven’t had a baby, the design makes sense—when you have incisions on your abdomen, you need something soft, high-waisted, and non-restrictive. These disposable underwears are a lifesaver compared to standard disposable Depends. The big difference? You can build your own pad system . Start with the underwear. Add a menstrual pad. Layer on a witch hazel perineal liner, perineal cream, or both. Attach an optional heating pad for cramping. It’s completely customizable depending on what your body needs that day. I also want to mention the liners pack...

My Laparoscopy Recovery Essentials: What’s Actually Helping Me Heal

Disclaimer: Links to all the products I mentioned are included. I am not being paid to promote any of them and do not receive payments. Skin sensitivity may impact your experiences with these products. Recovering from my laparoscopy has been a journey, and honestly, some days are more uncomfortable than others. Over the past week, I’ve found a few products that have made a huge difference in how I feel—both physically and mentally. Here’s what’s been helping me get through it: 1. Body Wash That Feels Safe Before and after surgery, I wanted something gentle that still felt clean. I’ve been using Dove Antibacterial Body Wash , and it’s been perfect. It keeps the incision area clean without stinging or irritating my skin, which is such a relief.  2. Underwear That Actually Works I never thought I’d get excited about disposable underwear, but Frida Mom Disposable C-Section Underwear has been a game-changer. They’re soft, supportive, and don’t press on my stomach—exactly what ...
