Have a Menstrual Cycle

~ Click on links for more information ~ Normal Menstrual Length Myth Buster: You Can Get Pregnant While Breastfeeding The first thing for us was getting a postpartum menstrual cycle. I didn't know you could temp (track your basal body temperature) prior to your postpartum menstrual starting. I did actually try a few times after my first pregnancy, but we started trying when our first was 9 months. So we tried for 8 months and 1 week, hoping to catch the first egg. I should add it is not impossible to catch your first egg, probably a little harder since you would have to watch your temps closely to find a pattern and take OPKs (ovulation prediction kits) to see if your body is trying and does ovulate. What helped us I believe get my postpartum cycles was when our first started nursing a little less and sleeping longer through the night. She was not sleeping through the night ever when I got my postpartum menstrual cycles back, but sleeping around 4 hours between wak...

Pineapple Core Method (For Egg Implantation)

Pineapple Core Method helps with Implantation About Pineapple Core Method For those of you who do not know what it is and what it is for, this method is said to help with egg implantation. Pineapple contains bromelain, which can aid implantation. You take an entire pineapple and slice it into 5 pieces. Some people say you only eat the core, others have eaten a whole pineapple.  For me, I like fruit so eating the meat and core of the pineapple were not a problem for me and brought me success. I do recommend using a fresh pineapple vs using a canned one. You eat one slice each day for 5 days, starting after the day you ovulate.  So you would eat it from 1-5 days past ovulation. You do not want to eat more than that, because too much is said to have the opposite effect, inhibiting implantation. However, if you miss starting it at 1-day past ovulation, you can take it from 2-6 days past ovulation. If you miss 2 days past ovulation, you can take it 3-7 days past ...

Vitamin C (For Egg Implantation)

Vitamin C helps with Egg Implantation ~ My Experiences have Orange headings and  Medical Information is in Blue headings ~ Vitamin C For Egg Implantation Since I was trying to get pregnant with my second child while breastfeeding my first child and I knew the breastfeeding had given me a short luteal phase, I was concerned even when my luteal phase had reached a 10 of my egg not implanting properly. I read in a post on a message board, that Vitamin C helps with implantation, as well as doing the Pineapple Core Method.  Vitamin C Brand I purchased my Vitamin C over the counter at a local store. The brand I used was Spring Valley - Vitamin C 1000 mg. Some store you can purchase Spring Valley brand from are Wal-Mart or Amazon.com.  Prenatal Vitamins + Vitamin C Supplement I also took my prenatal vitamins at the same time and prenatal vitamins contain Vitamin C, so I was getting extra Vitamin C by taking the supplement too. To...

Prenatals + Vitamin B6 Side Effects of Excessive Vitamin B6 What if B6 Doesn't Work? Then What? Vitamin B6: My Supplement Chart TTC # 2: My Experience With B6  I have read that some side effects of taking Vitamin B6 is it can decrease milk supplies in some women. I did not find this to be true for me. I also was told by a mommy from my online message board that when she took Vitamin B6 while breastfeeding it changed the color of her breast milk to a bright yellow color and suspects it might have changed the taste of the milk. She was not exclusively breastfeeding on the breast, so that might be why she was more aware of color than I was, since I almost ...

Track your Cycles

Fertility Friend Fertility Chart My fertility chart from the cycle I got pregnant with my 2nd pregnancy Basal Body Temperature (BBT) Take your BBT (basal body temperature) through out your cycles.  The first day of your cycle is the first day of flow from your menstrual cycle.  Once my postpartum period arrived after having my first child at 17 months  postpartum, I started temping (taking my temperature)from the first cycle through all nine postpartum periods I had between my first two pregnancies. I have had 9 postpartum periods, but we only tried for 6 cycles of the 9 postpartum periods.  Cross Hairs If you look at my fertility friend chart from my 2nd pregnancy, you will see there is a line that goes across my chart horizontally and one that goes vertically. Those are called cross hairs.  What Do Cross Hairs Mean? The line going down that goes through the line going across, marks when I ovulated. The temps (temperature) in front o...

Charting (Increase Chances for Pregnancy)

Charting Charting to Increase Your Chances of Becoming Pregnant What is Charting? Charting sounds exactly how it sounds. You use a chart to record information, such as how many times you are intimate with your partner, any positive ovulation tests and so forth to increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Where do I get a fertility chart? These Fertility Charts can be found online on fertility based websites, through phone apps and you can make your own. Sometimes these charts are also included with the purchase of a BBT (basal body temperature) thermometer. My favorite two are www.fertilityfriend.com and www.countdowntopregnancy.com . Are the fertility charts free? Some websites and/ or apps do charge money and some also have free charts. I do know www.fertilityfriend.com and www.countdowntopregnancy.com offer free charts. What is the difference between free and paid charts? Paid members may have access to more analyzing tools. For example, one...
