Vitamin C (For Egg Implantation)

Vitamin C helps with Egg Implantation

Medical Information is in Blue headings ~

Vitamin C For Egg Implantation
Since I was trying to get pregnant with my second child while breastfeeding my first child and I knew the breastfeeding had given me a short luteal phase, I was concerned even when my luteal phase had reached a 10 of my egg not implanting properly. I read in a post on a message board, that Vitamin C helps with implantation, as well as doing the Pineapple Core Method.

Vitamin C Brand
I purchased my Vitamin C over the counter at a local store. The brand I used was Spring Valley - Vitamin C 1000 mg. Some store you can purchase Spring Valley brand from are Wal-Mart or Amazon.com.

Prenatal Vitamins + Vitamin C Supplement
I also took my prenatal vitamins at the same time and prenatal vitamins contain Vitamin C, so I was getting extra Vitamin C by taking the supplement too. To give you an idea of how much, a basic Up and Up Target Brand Pre-natal vitamin has 120 mg of Vitamin C.

How I Took It
I took Vitamin C once a day every day of my last cycle along with the Vitamin B6 until I got a positive pregnancy test.

When I Stopped
After the positive pregnancy test, I did not continue using the Vitamin  C. Too much Vitamin C might block the absorption of iron so I would not continue using the Vitamin C supplement after getting a positive pregnancy test. Having the absorption of iron blocked could lead to a deficiency in iron. Even though you have stopped the supplement, your prenatal vitamins have Vitamin C. You will continue to get Vitamin C from your foods, drinks, and prenatal vitamins.

Vitamin C While Trying to Conceive
I can not vouch if this is completely true or not, but keep in mind if you run into this issue while using a Vitamin C supplement. I've heard too much vitamin C can make cervical mucus too acidic. I also read a Babble article called 10 Vitamins & Minerals for Fertility. In the section about Vitamin C, the author wrote, "Too much Vitamin C can dry a woman's cervical mucus and prevent sperm from reaching the egg" (Mass).

Vitamin C During Pregnancy
Do not continue supplement after getting a positive pregnancy test. The max of vitamin C you want during pregnancy is 2000 mg per day and your prenatal vitamins also have Vitamin C.  Studies have shown that too much vitamin C in the form of supplements during pregnancy can lead to preterm labor, and in rare cases scurvy (a severe vitamin c deficiency) to expectant moms who took Vitamin C supplements. Excessive Vitamin C can cause an upset stomach as well according to experts. Article Link: Baby Center: Is it Safe to take Vitamin C during Pregnancy?

Vitamin C Success Story
Besides my experience, there is a woman from my mommy message boards in 2013 who tried it after me (I tried this in 2012). For a little background, she had been diagnosed with Endometriosis by Laparoscopy, after the removal of an organ revealed to have Endometriosis on it. Prior to the removal of the organ and Laparoscopy, she had gotten pregnant once in two years and miscarried at 4 weeks. The second time she got pregnant, she asked me about taking Vitamin C. I gave her the same story above and the cycle she became pregnant, she had taken Vitamin C as I had. Now she is expecting her first child (although her second pregnancy) and is 16 + weeks pregnant. [Update: She had a healthy pregnancy that she carried to full term].

Vitamin C for Short Luteal Phase
On Avawoman.com, the website of the Ava Fertility Bracelet, is an article titled, "What Every Woman Should Know About Her Luteal Phase".  In that article, the author writes about "a study done where Vitamin C increased fertility in some women with short luteal phases" (What Every Woman Should Know About Her Luteal Phase). Frida Mom for Post Laparoscopy Care

My Frida Mom Basket for Post-Laparoscopy Care. Why I Love the Frida Mom Line (Even Beyond Motherhood) One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate is how versatile the Frida Mom line is—not just for new moms, but for anyone recovering from abdominal surgeries, such as laparoscopies for endometriosis. After surgery, comfort and gentle care are everything. That’s where the C-section recovery underwear comes in. Even if you haven’t had a baby, the design makes sense—when you have incisions on your abdomen, you need something soft, high-waisted, and non-restrictive. These disposable underwears are a lifesaver compared to standard disposable Depends. The big difference? You can build your own pad system . Start with the underwear. Add a menstrual pad. Layer on a witch hazel perineal liner, perineal cream, or both. Attach an optional heating pad for cramping. It’s completely customizable depending on what your body needs that day. I also want to mention the liners pack...

My Laparoscopy Recovery Essentials: What’s Actually Helping Me Heal

Disclaimer: Links to all the products I mentioned are included. I am not being paid to promote any of them and do not receive payments. Skin sensitivity may impact your experiences with these products. Recovering from my laparoscopy has been a journey, and honestly, some days are more uncomfortable than others. Over the past week, I’ve found a few products that have made a huge difference in how I feel—both physically and mentally. Here’s what’s been helping me get through it: 1. Body Wash That Feels Safe Before and after surgery, I wanted something gentle that still felt clean. I’ve been using Dove Antibacterial Body Wash , and it’s been perfect. It keeps the incision area clean without stinging or irritating my skin, which is such a relief.  2. Underwear That Actually Works I never thought I’d get excited about disposable underwear, but Frida Mom Disposable C-Section Underwear has been a game-changer. They’re soft, supportive, and don’t press on my stomach—exactly what ...
