Charting
Charting to Increase
Your Chances of Becoming Pregnant
What
is Charting?
Charting sounds exactly
how it sounds. You use a chart to record information, such as how many times
you are intimate with your partner, any positive ovulation tests and so forth
to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
Where
do I get a fertility chart?
These Fertility Charts can
be found online on fertility based websites, through phone apps and you can make
your own. Sometimes these charts are also included with the purchase of a BBT
(basal body temperature) thermometer. My favorite two are www.fertilityfriend.com and www.countdowntopregnancy.com.
Are
the fertility charts free?
Some websites and/ or apps
do charge money and some also have free charts. I do know www.fertilityfriend.com and www.countdowntopregnancy.com
offer free charts.
What
is the difference between free and paid charts?
Paid members may have
access to more analyzing tools. For example, one analyzing tool may see how
well you timed intimacy during the cycle and will tell you on its scoring
system how well you did. As nice as that sounds the thing to remember is all of
these things are likely estimations with your chances of conception. But they can
have errors and cannot guarantee that you will become pregnant. A woman could
estimate to have a really high chance, but does not get pregnant, while another
might have a low chance and does become pregnant or vice versa. I have always
used free charts and was able to get pregnant with my second child without
having to pay for extra features. For me, it was more of a money cost and
trying to conceive can get expensive. However, there is no wrong or right way
to decide to do free or to do a paid membership and both can help increase your
chances of getting pregnant.
What
do I need to start charting?
The minimum you need for a chart is a thermometer
to track your BBT (Basal body temperature). Other items that can help make your
chart more accurate is the results from OPKs (ovulation prediction kits).
What
are the benefits of fertility charts?
They will help you review
your cycles, to learn what days you normally ovulate within, how long your
cycles are, how well you timed intimacy on your fertile days and they will help
you notice things such as if your luteal phase is too short for proper egg implantation.
