This is not solid evidence, but it seems some women expecting multiples can get positive pregnancy tests earlier than women expecting single babies. My earliest pregnancy test was 12 DPO (days pass ovulation) and taken with a first response early response home pregnancy test with my second pregnancy. My test was also very faint. (You can see my pregnancy test photos under My Positive Pregnancy Tests and Ultrasounds section under pages). On my mommy message board, three ladies were expecting twins naturally. There was one mom who was expecting her second set of twins and got a positive pregnancy test at 9 DPO (days pass ovulation). She also got results on a digital pregnancy test, which is said to be less sensitive.
It isn't a golden rule, but generally a woman can expect to see a positive pregnancy test the first day after her missed menstrual cycle, which is usually 12-14 + DPO (days pass ovulation). Also HCG levels vary in different women, thus meaning an early test may not necessarily mean twins. Another mom said she got a very positive pregnancy test at 11 DPO (days pass ovulation). "Very" positive means to me the pregnancy test was not a faint positive and the lines are dark. The two lines are easily seen without being tweaked (manipulation of a positive pregnancy test picture to confirm two lines).
