3rd: Suspicions, Chart, Signs, Tests & Ultrasounds

Pregnancy # 3: Positive Pregnancy Test on June 22, 2015

Pregnancy Suspicions: I was really fatigue, more than normal. Also, my clear blue fertility monitor had the period button flashing, and I was still waiting for my period to come and it got me thinking, maybe? Before I decided to check the monitor, I was thinking I might be having another 30 something day cycle, like cycle 8 that was 34 days long. And surprisingly, I was thinking that even though my 9th cycle, was only 27 days long and I was now on cycle day 30, 3 days pass that with no period.  Also one thing that raised my interest was that even though my chart was set to Fertility Awareness that said I did not ovulate, my chart still showed elevated temps similar to when I had the cycle that I conceived my 2nd child. Click here to see pictures of my chart from my second pregnancy.

Testing: I tested by accident on cycle day 22 when I used the First Response Pregnancy Test that came with my first Response ovulation tests. It wasn't until I opened the package and dipped the cap, I realized I grabbed the wrong color wrapper. The ovulation tests were purple and the pregnancy test pink. It was negative, which I expected since I was still testing for ovulation.  I tested purposefully on cycle day 28 with a Wal-Mart .88 cents brand, called First Signal that reminds me of the blood test ones they use at my OBGYN office.  It was negative, but I suspect the test was either not sensitive enough or it was too early. Probably the latter. I retested on a whim even though I felt I was out, on cycle day 30. Even as I watching the test, I felt out until the urine had passed over and I saw a faint line getting darker as the test settled. I checked my chart,  Fertility Awareness setting on my fertility friend chart gave me no cross hairs and did not confirm ovulation, but the advance setting did confirm ovulation and put me at 13 days pass ovulation. I decided if it was correct, I would be far along enough that a digital would say positive and it did that night. After getting my dating ultrasound, going off of those dates instead of my fertility friend chart, I got my positive pregnancy test at 11 days pass ovulation and my positive blood test 12 days pass ovulation.

Signs & Symptoms: Fatigue. A few days before I tested, I was feeling incredibly tired. I didn't wake up feeling rejuvenated and it feels unusual, that in the middle of the day I felt like taking a nap.  I even commented to my spouse about how tired I was and my online mommy group, but tried to convince myself that it was probably due to the summer heat, not staying hydrated enough, being super busy with school and packing as much family time as we possibly can. Maybe even had something to do with me being on the low end of normal for iron or being deficient in vitamin D (currently on a supplement for) when I had my levels tested.

Reasons I thought I was out: I had a little breakout and thought the acne was related to my period coming. We only were intimate 3x that cycle and it didn't seem enough to me. I had positive ovulation tests after ovulation on the advance setting of my fertility chart. The fertility awareness setting said I didn't ovulate. I had an unusually hard time discerning what kind of cervical mucus that I was having and felt like I did not have a usual amount. I felt pretty dry this cycle, that I assumed could have been just the cycle or the Soy I took.

Length of Time: It took us 10 cycles to get pregnant while I was breastfeeding our second.

What We Did: I tracked my basal body temperature, the days we were intimate, and the days I was on my period on a free fertility friend chart (I did pay for a short term membership to see some of their VIP features). I also kept track and took ovulation prediction kit tests. I used pre-seed during intimacy, a lubricant designed for couples trying to conceive a baby. It helps the cervical mucus be sperm friendly. I also used Instead Soft Cups after intimacy once or twice, I believe. The Instead Soft cups capture the sperm and help keep it close to the cervix. We were only intimate 3x this cycle that counted towards the pregnancy. We unintentionally were only intimate two days before my fertility chart feels I ovulated. We usually aim for before ovulation, during ovulation and some days after, but I was having such a wacky cycle ovulation was not clear.

Supplements:  I took B-complex throughout my cycle and Soy Isoflavones on select days like Clomid. The brands I bought for both are Spring Valley.  For Soy, the brand I bought was 40 mg per tablet. The bottle comes with 60 tablets and I only have 48 left.  I took 12 over the 5 days, cycle days 3-7. 3 days of taking 2 tablets for 80 mg and 2 days of taking 3 for 120 mg.

Photos:  (Click on the photos to enlarge). According to advance setting on my fertility friend chart, I was 13 days past ovulation. First is my fertility chart from the cycle I conceived my 3rd. The 2nd photo is from that first day I tested. The third photo is the voting results on my pregnancy test. And the fourth photo is my dating ultrasound.

Funny thing is my positive ovulation tests are after I ovulated

I posted my home pregnancy test to countdowntopregnancy.com for additional opinions.
I was relieved everyone agreed it looked positive.

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test (Blue Dye)

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test  with Blue Dye (+ / - ) This is what a negative looks like: Side Note: Blue dyes are often said to more frequently give false positives than pink dye. Some online boards that will tweak (alter) a pregnancy test photo to help individuals identify if the test is a faint positive or indeed negative, often will not do blue dyes.

Frida Mom for Post Laparoscopy Care

My Frida Mom Basket for Post-Laparoscopy Care. Why I Love the Frida Mom Line (Even Beyond Motherhood) One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate is how versatile the Frida Mom line is—not just for new moms, but for anyone recovering from abdominal surgeries, such as laparoscopies for endometriosis. After surgery, comfort and gentle care are everything. That’s where the C-section recovery underwear comes in. Even if you haven’t had a baby, the design makes sense—when you have incisions on your abdomen, you need something soft, high-waisted, and non-restrictive. These disposable underwears are a lifesaver compared to standard disposable Depends. The big difference? You can build your own pad system . Start with the underwear. Add a menstrual pad. Layer on a witch hazel perineal liner, perineal cream, or both. Attach an optional heating pad for cramping. It’s completely customizable depending on what your body needs that day. I also want to mention the liners pack...

My Laparoscopy Recovery Essentials: What’s Actually Helping Me Heal

Disclaimer: Links to all the products I mentioned are included. I am not being paid to promote any of them and do not receive payments. Skin sensitivity may impact your experiences with these products. Recovering from my laparoscopy has been a journey, and honestly, some days are more uncomfortable than others. Over the past week, I’ve found a few products that have made a huge difference in how I feel—both physically and mentally. Here’s what’s been helping me get through it: 1. Body Wash That Feels Safe Before and after surgery, I wanted something gentle that still felt clean. I’ve been using Dove Antibacterial Body Wash , and it’s been perfect. It keeps the incision area clean without stinging or irritating my skin, which is such a relief.  2. Underwear That Actually Works I never thought I’d get excited about disposable underwear, but Frida Mom Disposable C-Section Underwear has been a game-changer. They’re soft, supportive, and don’t press on my stomach—exactly what ...
