My Thyroid Suspicions
Those who follow my blog, may remember I had done my TSH and Free T4 in December 2014 before becoming pregnant with my third child, where my thyroid was within normal ranges and fell on the low end of normal. In fact my OB did not want to do further testing, because the findings were normal. My midwife felt there could be some thyroid issues, because I always had low BBTs (basal body temperatures) when trying to conceive my second and third child. She was able to see that my BBT was low from my fertility charts. My temperatures seemed to hoover around 96-97 degrees Fahrenheit pre-ovulation. Below is my fertility chart confirming my second pregnancy.

How Often Does This Happen?
In the article, Postpartum Depression & Breastfeeding Challenges: The Connection, from Postpartum Progress.com, "As many as 5% of women will develop a thyroid imbalance postpartum. And some studies have found a link between low thyroid levels and poor milk supply. Low thyroid levels (also known as hypothyroid) have also been shown to induce depressive symptoms in women" (Kripke).
