As you research about supplements, you will most likely encounter contradicting information:
www.livestrong.com says Maca Root has not been proven safe to take for breastfeeding mothers and urges expecting or lactating moms to speak with their doctor before using a possible “unsafe” product.

www.wellnessmama.com, says maca is used to increase fertility and balancing hormones. Also that adding it to one’s daily regimen may help a couple conceive easier. 


Comments in online forums urge mothers with regular cycles to avoid using this particular product.

It has a strong taste. It is not recommended just placing it in water if using powder form and some might even taste it in a smoothie.

Males and Females. It is said Red Maca is recommended for women. Maca Root is nicknamed Nature’s Viagra.

Who Shouldn't Take Maca Root
www.wellnessmama.com doesn't recommend taking it during pregnancy but says while it has not been tested in nursing mothers, she has used while breastfeeding without a problem. It is suggested that Maca has high starch content and may affect people with arthritis. Feel Good Time.net wrote an article, Feel Good Time.net: Benefits of Maca says Maca is safe, but safety tests have not been done in patients with cancer, so they should err on the side of caution. Also, does not recommend for pregnant or lactating women. It is also suggested those with high blood pressure, liver or gall disease, should consult a doctor before using. Not to take while using fertility medicines or ginseng


Side Effects
It is also suggested not to consume raw because it has ill effects on some. The powder is the easiest form to consume, but some people have reported gas issues with taking it.
