According to Web Md's article, 11 Things You Didn't Know About Twins, "Women with twins may need more folic acid to help prevent birth defects. Manju Monga, MD, Professor and the division director of maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston recommends 1 mg (1000 mcg) per day of folic acid for mothers expecting twins and 0.4 mg (800 mcg) per day of folic for a mother expecting a single baby."
