Bed Rest & Postpartum Recovery Ideas: TV Shows (Updated)

Use this time of rest to catch up on TV shows! I don't know what genre of things you are into. However, Netflix and Hulu have tons of shows. I am trying some different shows on both myself to help me during the late night feedings with a newborn. I'll also share some other shows that those around me have recommended I try. I will give you some info on what I know about them since most people like and are bothered by and sensitive to different things. I am not recommending these, merely giving insight to some selections found from 2016-2018 on Netflix, and Hulu, or available on DVD. I'll leave it to you to decide if you like and want to try any. I will say that most of the shows I am mentioning, I have seen more than one episode. Anything I could not get past the first show, I will not bother to mention at this time.

CW -
The Carrie Diaries.  From The CW Network, a prequel to Sex in The City. It stars AnnaSophia Robb who reminds me of a younger Lindsay Lohan from LifeSize and Mean Girls.

Disney Channel-
Girl Meets World & Girl Meets High School. This show is the spin-off to Boy Meets World. Cory and Topanga Matthews were lead characters in Boy Meets World, and this show is about their daughter, Riley and her best friend, Maya Hart. As well as their best guy friends, Lucus, and Farkle and extends to other friends, Isadora, and Isaiah. For all the fans who loved Boy Meets World and want to see what comes after happily ever after, here's your chance to see Cory and Topanga as a couple and as parents. Danielle Fishel who plays Topanga and Ben Savage who plays Cory, revise their characters from Boy Meets World. You even get to see some old and familiar faces from Boy Meets World, such as Cory's best friend Sean. And they even address the question, did he ever end up with his long time on and off girlfriend, Angela? Plus special appearances from Cory's little brother (born after his little sister, Morgan) and older brother, Eric. This show is geared at tweens/teens since the lead stars play middle schoolers for the first two seasons and then high schoolers in the third. This show airs on Disney channel and has a couple of seasons on Netflix. It does address some current topics today the youth goes through such as bullying, being yourself, tween/teen dating, first crush, looks and so forth.

Netflix Originals -

Fuller House.  Fuller House is the spin-off to Full House. This is a grown up DJ Tanner living in her childhood home with her children and younger sister, Stephanie.  Baby sister, Michelle is mentioned but not featured. Guest appearance from the former cast, who played Aunt Rebecca, Uncle Jessie and Uncle Joey. Best friend, Kimmy Kimble is also a regular. I think my husband said he watched all of it and really liked it. I've heard some mix reviews of people who loved it or hate it, as often with spin-offs. There are kissing and alcohol use.

DVD
The N / Teen Nick -

Instant Star. This is a Candian television show that aired on CTV in Canada and also aired in the US on The N, now called Teen Nick. It was the second most popular show, after Degrassi: The Next Generation. It has 4 seasons. It was intended to have 5 seasons, but due to both CTV and The N pulling funding (according to Wikipedia), it ended after 4. Numerous of fans were devastated by this decision and have petitioned over the years after its cancellation for a fifth season or an hour finale for all the loose ends of season 4 that would have been resolved in season 5 to be addressed. Needless to say, fans are still waiting for a proper ending. There are numerous of petitions still floating around online, to see some click here. To better understand why this show was the second most popular on its network and fans are petitioning long after its cancellation, I provided a few possible reasons for its popularity. Number one, Canadian singer, Alexzandra "Alexz" Johnson stars as the lead, Jude Harris. (You can listen to her song, Ruthless Love for free on Youtube here). Jude is a typical teenager, she has two best friends, enjoys music, struggles with her grades, doesn't exactly fit in and has a popular older sister named Sadie. She is a relatable character. Two, the show features a new song each week. In the beginning of the series, all the songs are sung by Alexz Johnson, in the later seasons, other stars of the show also have songs featured. To sample songs from the soundtrack, Songs from Instant Star featuring Alexz Johnson, click here. It is brought to you by a youtube user and is free. Three, there is romance. What is a show without some drama in the form as love triangles?

Clear Blue Plus Pregnancy Test  with Blue Dye (+ / - ) This is what a negative looks like: Side Note: Blue dyes are often said to more frequently give false positives than pink dye. Some online boards that will tweak (alter) a pregnancy test photo to help individuals identify if the test is a faint positive or indeed negative, often will not do blue dyes.

Frida Mom for Post Laparoscopy Care

My Frida Mom Basket for Post-Laparoscopy Care. Why I Love the Frida Mom Line (Even Beyond Motherhood) One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate is how versatile the Frida Mom line is—not just for new moms, but for anyone recovering from abdominal surgeries, such as laparoscopies for endometriosis. After surgery, comfort and gentle care are everything. That’s where the C-section recovery underwear comes in. Even if you haven’t had a baby, the design makes sense—when you have incisions on your abdomen, you need something soft, high-waisted, and non-restrictive. These disposable underwears are a lifesaver compared to standard disposable Depends. The big difference? You can build your own pad system . Start with the underwear. Add a menstrual pad. Layer on a witch hazel perineal liner, perineal cream, or both. Attach an optional heating pad for cramping. It’s completely customizable depending on what your body needs that day. I also want to mention the liners pack...

My Laparoscopy Recovery Essentials: What’s Actually Helping Me Heal

Disclaimer: Links to all the products I mentioned are included. I am not being paid to promote any of them and do not receive payments. Skin sensitivity may impact your experiences with these products. Recovering from my laparoscopy has been a journey, and honestly, some days are more uncomfortable than others. Over the past week, I’ve found a few products that have made a huge difference in how I feel—both physically and mentally. Here’s what’s been helping me get through it: 1. Body Wash That Feels Safe Before and after surgery, I wanted something gentle that still felt clean. I’ve been using Dove Antibacterial Body Wash , and it’s been perfect. It keeps the incision area clean without stinging or irritating my skin, which is such a relief.  2. Underwear That Actually Works I never thought I’d get excited about disposable underwear, but Frida Mom Disposable C-Section Underwear has been a game-changer. They’re soft, supportive, and don’t press on my stomach—exactly what ...
